New Haven police are investigating after a man was shot Wednesday evening.
Police said around 7:30 PM, New Haven Police And Fire responded to a 911 call of a person shot inside a corner store at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Dover Street in the Fair Haven neighborhood. A 37-year-old New Haven man had been shot in the abdomen.
Emergency medical responders treated the victim at the scene and an ambulance transported him to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Prior to the incident, investigators believe a verbal dispute outside the store led to the shooting. An unknown gunman shot the victim and then fled on foot. The injured victim walked into the store and sought assistance.
