HARTFORD, Conn. — Christian Scott is hoping that his new Pratt Street venture in Hartford will pay off.
Scott is the owner of “Rundown”, a small retail business that specializes in the secondary market of high-end and sought-after footwear and clothing. Nike, Yeezy’s, rare Air Jordans, all have a place on Scott’s expansive wall at 44 Pratt Street.
"We specialize in the secondary market of all sneakers and clothing – anything you can’t typically find in a retail setting,” said Scott.
Scott said the name “Rundown” isn’t exactly as it sounds.
“We kind of mean it in the sense of we’re going to give you the rundown of what’s hot, what’s new,” said Scott.
Rundown has expanded into Hartford after the success of its Bridgeport location.
"Since our Bridgeport location did so well, we got a lot of clients from Hartford coming down so we just decided to come and spread more love to the community,” said Marketing Director Judy Pagan.
With some pairs of shoes fetching prices at high as $2,500, Scott said the sneaker game has become like collecting art.
“It literally is artwork," Scott said. "It really is an art piece just for your foot."
Rundown held their ribbon cutting on Saturday, with Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin on hand for support, and Scott said they look forward to a colorful future in the Capital City.
“We’re definitely happy to be in Hartford,” Scott said.
