HARTFORD, Conn. — Inside the renovated Swift Building in Hartford’s North End, Sasha and Ian Fay have a daily grind – it’s how they make their living. The husband-and-wife team are always busy roasting and then grinding their specialty small batch coffee called “Ovelle Coffee”.
Their startup began four years ago after a trip to Jamaica, said Sasha Fay, “We took a tour of a coffee farm in Jamaica and we fell in love with the coffee, the community, the people and we wanted to bring that coffee back to Connecticut and that’s what we did.”
Sasha added that Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee is what sets Ovelle’s product apart, “It’s art, it’s love, and it’s science,” she said.
Ian Fay added, “And then it’s putting your own twist on it like what makes you different than everyone else.”
Both Sasha and Ian work at local farmers markets to sell their bags of high-end roast. Additionally, some specialty food stores in the area carry their Ovelle product such as Tangiers Market in Hartford.
Sasha exclaimed, “We make the best coffee in Connecticut.”
After finishing a small batch in their coffee roaster, Ian added, “You get the freshest cup of coffee possible from us.”
Ovelle Coffee will be on display for a tasting at Tangiers Market in Hartford on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. To learn more about Ovelle Coffee click here.
