FARMINGTON, Conn — The Farmington police and animal control departments alerted residents Tuesday of a skunk that was found in town and had tested positive for rabies.
The skunk was found over the weekend in the area of Knollwood Road, police said.
That skunk later tested positive for rabies, according to police.
Officials continue to remind residents to keep their pets up to date on vaccines and to keep control over the pet's ability to interact with wildlife.
Anyone who believes they or their pets could have been exposed to a sick animal to call the Farmington Animal Control at 860-675-2400.
At this time, skunks can not be trapped and relocated in Connecticut due to their threat of rabies, according to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
