TEL AVIV, Israel — Family members in Connecticut have also been affected by the distance as their loved ones do their best each day to protect themselves in Israel amidst this war.
FOX61's Carmen Chau spoke to Rebecca Fox through Zoom about what she has experienced each day.
Fox is originally from Colchester and moved to Israel in 2017 for a teaching program.
She currently lives in Tel Aviv with her husband and both have mostly stayed home for their safety.
Fox said she has heard the rocket attack sirens at least twice a day and when community members headed to their bomb shelter, they heard a loud boom as the rocket was shot down.
"It's still kind of a state of shock. The one thing that I think that's really affecting me on a personal level as I'm sure you're well aware of, there's a lot of on social media and there's been an uptick in anti-Semitism even in my community where I'm from or where my university and that part is really bone-chilling and that is deeply affecting me on a personal level. Professionally, it's a bit more tangible in that my company actually - we have an office in the south of Israel right on the border in a city called Sderot and many many of our employees had the worst experience. I can't describe the atrocities of either their communities being murdered or fighting off armed terrorists.," said Fox of Tel Aviv, Israel.
