BAYONNE, N.J. — A chocolate maker is recalling some of its candy because it may contain undeclared dairy milk.
Manischewitz is recalling its Dark Chocolate Coins, which they said were sold nationwide, predominantly in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
The company said the coins – labeled as “Dark Chocolate Coins” – may have contained milk chocolate coins. These contain milk that could put people with a milk allergy or a severe sensitivity to milk at risk.
All dairy Milk Chocolate Coins are wrapped in gold foil within a blue netting and all non-dairy Dark Chocolate Coins are wrapped in silver foil within a red netting.
Only packages bearing lot code No. 2283, may potentially have gold coins in the “dark-chocolate tagged” bag.
The chocolate was distributed to stores between Sept. 26 and Nov. 28.
Consumers who may have purchased this product are advised to inspect their product if gold foil coins are in the dark chocolate bags and discontinue use immediately. Consumers may return the product for credit or refund.
