NORWICH, Conn. — Tanner Kern and Jordan Tucker are cousins on the run, and they are halfway to their goal. Kern, from Essex, and Tucker, from York, Pennsylvania, are in the midst of running from the 9/11 Memorial in Boston to the 9/11 Memorial in Downtown Manhattan – a total of 220 miles.
Yantic Falls in Norwich is just about the halfway point of their trip.
Kern, 26, said, “We’re running from Boston to New York for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to raise money for catastrophically injured veterans, first responders, and Gold Star Families.”
“We are trying to help as many people as we can that serve our country and helping their families as well,” Tucker, 37, added.
The trip is expected to take about a week, Kern and Tucker will head to New London next, take the Ferry to Orient Point, New York and run from Long Island to Manhattan. They hope to finish their goodwill mission sometime this Saturday.
Kern noted that their goal is to raise $20,000 for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
“That’s the goal," Kern said. "Our first responders and veterans are the backbone of this country and to be able to support them and this charity is a no-brainer.”
