Amazing Christmas village sprawls throughout Cheshire man's home

From a sports section to shops and restaurants, Gordan Luerson says the best part about building the village is people’s reactions.

CHESHIRE, Conn. — The spirit of Christmas is alive in well in Gordan Luerson ‘s Cheshire home.

“It started with a little house over there, and each year I added a couple of houses,” said Luerson.

What started as a gift back almost 30 years ago has turned into Luersen’s Christmas Village.

“Since about 97’,” said said Luerson. “Each year it got bigger and bigger and bigger."

Luerson transforms his office space into a winter extravaganza.

“I try to make it look like an actual village. I’ll start it with the city part with a park and everything else and then I’ll move into the suburbs and then out of the suburbs into the country area,” said Luerson. "Every year, I make it totally different so otherwise, it’ll be boring."

His favorite section this year is the motorcycle section.

“Well right now I have the Harly section over there because I am a biker too,” said Luerson.

He said it takes about a month to put it together each year, right in time for his loved ones to enjoy it.

“Yeah, we have what we call a Village party. All the family comes over and friends and stuff,” said Luerson.

His reasoning for doing it is simple. Keeping the Christmas spirit alive.

“I like to do it. It’s my thing for Christmas every year,” said Luerson.

Luerson said he’s lost count as to how many little figures he has. From a sports section to shops and restaurants, he said the best part about building the village is people’s reactions.

“When people see it and they start smiling because they like it, it makes me feel good. So, it makes my Christmas for me,” said Luerson.

There are no plans to stop now.

"Every year I think this year will be it and I already went shopping last week so I got more buildings for next year, so I am already trying to figure out where am I going to go next year,” said Luerson.
