Connecticut to launch 'Christmas Movie Trail' and offer chance to meet Hallmark stars, be in future film

The contest is part of the state's upcoming announcement of the Connecticut Christmas Movie Trail, which will highlight the holiday movies filmed in the state.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Editor's Note: Video originally aired March 4, 2022.

Your dreams of being part of a Hallmark holiday movie could come true this holiday season. The state of Connecticut is holding a contest to invite a dozen residents to meet holiday film stars and for one of those winners to be selected an extra in an upcoming Hallmark Christmas movie filmed in Connecticut.

The contest is part of the state's upcoming announcement of the Connecticut Christmas Movie Trail, which will highlight the nearly two dozen Christmas and holiday movies that were filmed in parts of Connecticut over the years. No other state has a Christmas movie trail, according to state officials.

"This contest is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the films that showcase our state’s charm and beauty – from our historic small towns to our scenic landscapes – and it’s a great chance to invite people to experience firsthand what it means to live, work, and play in Connecticut,” Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement.

To enter the contest, fill out this online form and explain "what you love most about the holiday season in Connecticut." There will be 12 winners selected to go to an event in the Hartford area on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. At the event, the Connecticut Christmas Movie Trail will be revealed. The winners will also get a chance to meet holiday movie stars such as Wes Brown, Erin Cahill and Michael Rady.

One of those 12 winners will be chosen from a drawing to be an extra in an upcoming Hallmark holiday movie that's filming in Connecticut.

“This contest gives fans the ultimate Connecticut experience,” said Anthony Anthony, the state's chief marketing officer. “From being immersed in communities where these films were shot to meeting the stars and seeing the costumes up close, it’s a wonderful way to feel the spirit of the holiday season. And the chance to be an extra in a future holiday production? It doesn’t get more magical than that.”

The contest form will close on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 11 p.m.
