NEWINGTON, Conn. — The Connecticut Humane Society, or CHS, is in "urgent need of donations" for their pet food pantry, according to a Facebook post Wednesday.
The pantry is out of both dry cat food and dry dog food, according to CHS. They are especially welcoming brands including Purina One, Friskies, Blue Buffalo and Purina.
Those looking to donate items to CHS can place orders online or drop them off at any CHS location during business hours between 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day. More information on donating can be found here.
All donations must be unopened and unexpired, CHS said.
According to CHS, they are unable to accept the following donations:
- Open or expired pet food
- Human clothing
- Fitted sheets
- Pillows and pillow cases
- Large or down filled comforters
- Mattresses and mattress toppers
- Prescription medications
- Medical supplies
- Carpets
- Children’s toys
- Furniture
- Cushions
- Electric blankets
- Bags over 40 lbs.

- Large garbage bags (heavy duty)
- Bounce dryer sheets
- New/like-new towels and blankets (must be machine washable)
- HE free & clear laundry detergent
- New/like-new pet beds

- New cat toys (no catnip please)
- Squeeze up lickable cat treats
- Cat carriers
- Wand toys
- New litter boxes
- Laser pointers
- New cardboard cat scratchers

- Gently used iPads for enrichment
