Eleanor the lionhead rabbit up for adoption at Connecticut Humane Society

Eleanor is looking for her new forever home!

CONNECTICUT, USA — Meet Eleanor! She's a rabbit looking for her forever home just in time for the new year!

Eleanor is a 6-month-old lionhead rabbit. The Connecticut Humane Society said that rabbits can make wonderfully social family pets!

If you're interested in Eleanor, the shelter recommends familiarizing yourself with the car and enrichment rabbits require before adopting.

Although relatively easy to care for once you know how rabbits require more attention than most people think!

The Connecticut Humane Society said that rabbits may be able to live in pairs. When bonded, they will groom each other and snuggle together for companionship.

Solo rabbits will need more human social time than pairs.

Curious and social, rabbits benefit from a lot of time outside of their care, and they can even be litter box trained so they can roam freely in a safe environment!

While rabbits vary greatly in size, the average rabbit may weigh around 5 pounds and can live 6-12 years with proper care.

If you're interested in adopting Eleanor or any other animal, you can head to the Connecticut Humane Society website here.
