HARTFORD, Conn. — Today's Pet of the Week is Wallaby! While Wallaby is not yet ready for adoption, we wanted to bring her to the studio to spotlight the need for fosters for pets like Wallaby, specifically for our Westport and Newington locations. We have lots of pets who are waiting for medical treatment (Wallaby is waiting for a dental, like many others), and it's really good for them to spend their downtime in a home environment rather than having to wait in the shelter.
Wallaby is an adorable 7-year-old American Cocker Spaniel. She came to us thanks to our partnership with the Bissell Pet Foundation and she hasn't ever known a home or a family of her own. She's such a sweet girl who deserves a loving home – not just after she gets adopted, but even now as she awaits her final medical treatments here at CHS!
Anyone interested in becoming a foster can check out our "Volunteer" page on the website to get the quick process started. Interested fosters will need to fill out an application and go through training with our foster care staff. Then, everything that's needed to care for the pet is provided to you.
If you're interested in fostering or adopting from the Connecticut Humane Society, head to their website.
Pet of the Week on Fox61 is sponsored by Smithland Pet and Garden Center and to get you started and set up with your new pet… Smithland will award a gift card to whoever adopts our pet of the week.
And once Wallaby is available for adoption, she'll be posted to the website, so keep an eye out!
