WETHERSFIELD, Conn. — Connecticut's unemployment rate in September remained below the national average as jobs were added and continued to be recovered after the pandemic.
Connecticut's unemployment rate remained at 3.5% for September, a 0.1% drop from August, according to a report from the Connecticut Dept. of Labor.
The national unemployment rate is at 3.8%, and this is the second consecutive month that Connecticut's unemployment rate is below the national average. There are fewer than 22,000 weekly unemployment filers in Connecticut.
In the state sector, 3,200 jobs were added and the sector is 80% recovered from the pandemic. Meanwhile, the private sector has fully recovered its jobs at 100.6% after the employment lockdown in April 2020.
Nationwide, around 336,000 jobs were added in September, according to a national Labor Department report.
