WorkinCT: Old Lights On

“People are very surprised to see a big lighting collection tucked away in the woods."

FARMINGTON, Conn. — At the bottom of Stanley Peck’s Farmington driveway inside a big barn is a one of a kind showroom.

“People are very surprised to see a big lighting collection tucked away in the woods basically,” says Peck.

For more than 20 years this husband and father has been packing this place from floor to ceiling, “We call lighting the jewelry for the house,” he says.

From Chandeliers to sconces, crystals and all kind of bulbs Peck has something for everyone at Old Lights On, “I collect lighting from a wide variety of periods Starting with the late 1800s all the way until the 1930s and 1940s,” he says.

Peck works with homeowners and designers on projects of any scale. Some smaller pieces from his collection may cost you a few hundred dollars while larger one could be a few thousand.

“I like the idea that you can have something old and it has a purpose you can use it, whatever it is you can turn it on It can aluminate and beautifier your space,” says Peck.

At any given time Peck has between 200 and 300 hundred pieces waiting to light up a spot that’s special to customers. He says making that match can brighten his day and yours in more ways than one. “I don’t just come here and pick out a light they come here and they get excited about the idea of finding something in a lot of cases that they didn’t even know existed,” says Peck.

If you’d like to check out some of Peck’s treasures for yourself you’ll need to make an appointment. Here’s his website. www.oldlightson.com
