Rain Wellness Spa is a women-owned day spa located in Branford that offers massage, facials, body treatments among other professional services, but provides one highlight that's especially unique to the shoreline. It's the only spa on Connecticut's Shoreline that offers Salt Therapy.
The Saltonstall Cave is a relaxation room built of Himalayan salt where microscopic salt particles are being pumped into the air as clients relax on lounge chairs in sand under low light listening to spa sounds. Rain Spa says repeated sessions in the Cave have helped clients breathe easier, improved skin and breathing conditions, and reduced stress.
In a 2006 study from the European Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, people with asthma reported breathing easier after several weeks of regular Halotherapy treatments. A New England Journal of Medicine study in 2006 found that inhaling salt-infused vapor improved breathing for patients with cystic fibrosis. Salt therapy is know to stimulate cell turnover, repairing and regenerating the skin. Regular and consistent dry salt sessions has helped people with skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema, inflammation, dermatitis, acne and rosacea.
Rain celebrates its 13th anniversary as a women-owned business this year. Currently staffed by 27 women who operate like a family and want their clients to feel like family there too.
