HARTFORD, Conn. — Five Stop & Shop grocery stores in Connecticut will be closing their doors by November 2024, the company announced Friday morning. These stores are closing because Stop & Shop determined they were underperforming in the area.
The following Stop & Shop stores are closing on or before Nov. 2, 2024:
- 100 Division St., Ansonia
- 211 High St., Torrington (931 Torringford St., Torrington will remain open)
- 1937 West Main St., Stamford (2200 Bedford St., Stamford will remain open)
- 855 Bridgeport Ave., Milford (1360 East Town Road, Milford will remain open)
- 72 Newtown Road, Danbury (44 Lake Avenue Ext., Danbury will remain open)
As listed above, most of the Connecticut stores closing have other locations in another part of the town or city.
These five stores are among the 32 Stop & Shop stores closing around the Northeast region.
Impacted employees will be offered other opportunities within the company, Stop & Shop said.
After the closures, there will be around 81 Stop & Shop locations in Connecticut, part of over the 350 stores in the region, including in Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island, according to the store.
