WEST HAVEN, Conn. — Two West Haven High School students were arrested after one brought an airsoft gun to school and the other carried it around the school before being found off school grounds with it, prompting a lockdown, according to police.
A student told the high school's student resource officers Friday morning that another student had what appeared to be a handgun. The school immediately went into lockdown after the SROs got the report of the possible gun.
An investigation revealed that a student brought a plastic airsoft handgun to school. It was determined that the student who brought the gun in placed it under his jacket in the gym, and another student took the gun from under the jacket and carried it around the school.
The other student left school grounds and was later found with the gun, police said.
Both students were arrested and processed. Both were charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, carrying a dangerous weapon, and breach of peace.
