BRIDGEPORT, Conn — Two men from Bridgeport were arrested after the alleged beating and robbery of a 75-year-old man in his backyard, according to police. Two others were arrested after police found them with the robbery suspects.

In a video police obtained and have not released at this time, the two suspects were seen approaching the 75-year-old man in his East Main St. backyard on Thursday "with their arms in their jacket pockets and motioned as if they had guns," police said.

The two punched him, pushed him against a dumpster, and then took his wallet, according to police. The victim suffered a minor head injury police said.

Police identified the suspects as Carlos Souffront, 33, and Angel Martinez, 46, both of Bridgeport.

Detectives found the two at the corner of Kossuth and Maple Streets around 8 a.m. Friday. The two were with a Nissan Rogue that was stolen out of Stratford and was used to get away after the robbery. The two were also in the same clothes they were wearing during the robbery the day before, police said.

Martinez was also charged with robbery, assault on an elderly person, and larceny in both the first-degree and sixth degree, with bond set to $178,000.

Two others were arrested after police found Souffront and Martinez.
