Bethel man arrested for performing 'exams' on victim, and state police believe more victims are out there

For some of the exams, he would press his ear right onto the victim's stomach, according to the arrest warrant.

DANBURY, Conn. — A Bethel man was arrested on sexual assault charges after one of his alleged victims complained of him conducting exams on her for what turned out to be a fake medical study. Now, state police are searching for victims who would like to come forward.

Brian Casella, 35, of Bethel, turned himself in to police on Friday. The victim called state police in August 2023 to report Casella, and an investigation was opened.

Earlier this year, Casella had the victim fill out paperwork for what he said was a study on the digestive system, the victim told investigators.

Casella and the victim met at the building where his employer was located. Casella usually had a camera and microphone recording during the sessions, the victim told investigators.

The victim said the exams got more invasive over time and also moved to a building owned by the suspect according to police. For some exams, Casella would press his ear right onto the victim's stomach and make her expose herself, the arrest warrant states. After their meetings, Casella would pay the victim hundreds of dollars, the victim told investigators.

When detectives searched the Brookfield office building, they found an ultrasound machine, scrubs, microphones, stethoscopes and other medical supplies in a storage room, according to the arrest warrant.

Casella told investigators he would pay people to conduct examinations on them and that investigators would find "a lot" of pictures and videos of victims on his hard drive, according to the arrest warrant.

Investigators found over 1,000 photos and videos containing multiple victims on the hard drive, according to the arrest warrant.

Casella was charged with sexual assault. He posted a $10,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 29.

Anyone who recognizes Casella and feels was a victim of Casella is encouraged to contact Detective Barbero at 860-904-0493, and all calls will remain confidential.
