COVENTRY, Conn. — A Florida man was arrested by Coventry police on Thursday after an investigation into wire fraud that occurred back in August 2022, the police department said.
Osmaldy De La Rosa Nunez, 29, of Orlando, Fla., allegedly defrauded a Coventry victim out of an amount over $135,000, according to police. He is charged with first-degree larceny.
Police said De La Rosa Nunez is accused of communicating with the victim as a known individual with whom the victim was familiar with and he had money transferred to him that was due to a third party. De La Rosa Nunez used a fake name to secure the funds, police said.
According to police, De La Rosa Nunez’s true identity was discovered with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and he was held in Florida as a fugitive from justice.
