LITCHFIELD, Conn. — A New York man was arrested for an incident at a Litchfield gas station in January, where he allegedly brought teenage girls to the back of the store, touched them, and gave them nicotine products, according to Connecticut State Police.
Monir Uddin, 47, of Brooklyn, N.Y., turned himself in to police on Saturday.
In January, three 14-year-old girls went to the Citgo gas station on West Street in Litchfield. They told investigators that they heard a rumor that an employee named "Moon" at the station would give people free nicotine products if they showed him something, according to the arrest warrant.
The gas station's surveillance footage captured footage of Uddin taking a group picture with the girls before going to the back of the gas station. The girls then exposed something, which was redacted from the arrest warrant.
Before letting the girls leave, he asked for photos and the girls told him "Hell no!" according to the arrest warrant. He also touched the girls inappropriately, the arrest warrant states. The victims told investigators they felt trapped during the encounter.
He eventually let the girls leave and take nicotine products and vapes with them, according to the arrest warrant. Surveillance shows Uddin using his credit card to pay for the products the girls walked away with.
The victims told investigators that they heard this had happened to other people too.
A group of kids who heard about what happened to the three teens went back to the gas station and got a video of Uddin admitting what happened. That video was since submitted to state police for evidence.
An affiant told investigators that Uddin moved back to New York shortly after because he "was afraid of the police."
Uddin, in an interview through a Bengali interpreter, told investigators that he thought the students who frequented the gas station were 17 or 18 and that he would text some of them about store-related things.
Uddin told investigators that he went to the back of the store with the three teens so that they could show CBD products they wanted to buy from him on their phones, according to the warrant. He denied the allegations investigators brought upon him and he said the girls "are framing me because I would not sell them products that they wanted," according to the warrant.
Uddin was charged with:
- 3 counts of commercial sexual abuse of a minor
- 3 counts of illegal sexual contact with a minor
- 3 counts of risk of injury to a child
- 3 counts of sexual assault
- 3 counts of unlawful restraint
- 3 counts of illegal sale of tobacco to a minor
He was held on a $85,000 bond and appeared in court on Monday.
