STAMFORD, Conn. — For the first time since she was found guilty on all six charges against her, Michelle Troconis appeared in Stamford Superior Court Thursday.
Troconis was found guilty by a jury of her peers three weeks ago for conspiracy to commit murder, tampering with evidence, and hinder prosecution. Those charges are all in connected to the death and disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos.
This time, however, the arraignment was for another matter… a misdemeanor charge she’s facing from something that allegedly happened during her trial.
Troconis walked into the courtroom Thursday with her hands cuffed behind her back, smiling at her friends and family in the gallery and blowing kisses at them.
The proceeding was brief, with the attorneys and the judge deciding to have pre-trial discussions within the next couple of weeks. The judge set another court date for May 15th.
The judge also set her bond for the contempt charge at $100. That charge stems from allegations that came about during her trial.
Prosecutors allege Troconis displayed a sealed custody document during testimony involving the divorce case between Jennfier and Fotis Dulos. It was brought to their attention by a close friend of Jennifer’s.
Troconis is still being held at the York Correctional Institution on a $6 million dollar bond connected to the other charges she was convicted on, on March 1st.
Outside of court Thursday, Troconis’s mother spoke with members of the press.
“We stand here in support of Michelle Troconis,” said Marisela Arreaza, Troconis’ mom. “She’s a devoted mother, a sensible individual, and she would never harm any other human being, and much less, a mother like her.”
She went on to say, “We will continue to support Michelle, until we pursue her freedom.”
Troconis’s new attorney, Robert Frost, declined to speak with reporters.
Troconis will be back in court on May 31st for her sentencing related to the conspiracy charge, and more.
Before that, there will be another court date involving motions filed by her other attorney, Jon Schoenhorn, on April 11th. That is in regards to motions he filed for an acquittal and a new trial.
