MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — A Hartford man is accused of stabbing another male during a fight in a Middletown neighborhood Thursday evening.
Police were called to Stoneycrest Drive just after 9:30 p.m. for a report of a stabbing.
Arriving officers found a male victim with a stab wound to the chest from a physical fight.
The victim, who police did not identify, was taken to Hartford Hospital where he is listed in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
One officer pulling into the scene saw an SUV disregarding a traffic signal and speeding away from the area. The officer stopped the SUV on Newfield St. and, with help from witnesses, identified the driver as the stabbing suspect.
The suspect, identified as Devin Dukes, 34, of Hartford, later admitted to assaulting the victim, according to police.
Police found a knife and brass knuckles in the SUV and discovered that the marker plate on the SUV was for a different vehicle.
Dukes was arrested and charged with assault, breach of peace, carrying a dangerous weapon, misuse of marker plates and failure to obey a traffic signal.
He was held on a $750,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
Anyone with information on the assault is asked and "encouraged" to call Ofc Dallas at 860-638-4000.
