NAUGATUCK, Conn. — A Naugatuck man who was arrested for kissing a child admitted to doing so for a social media trend, according to police.
Just before 5 p.m. Saturday, a parent called Naugatuck police after they saw a video posted on social media of William Gordon, 44, kissing a 10-year-old boy.
Police responded to the parent's home, watched the video, and promptly found Gordon, who admitted to kissing the child as part of a social media trend, police said.
Police took Gordon into custody and also took his cell phone to use as evidence.
Gordon was charged with cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a child. He was held on a $500,000 bond and was arraigned on Monday.
It is not clear when the incident happened and when the video was posted.
The Department of Children and Families has been notified of this case, and is involved in services with the victim, police said. The victim is not under Gordon's direct care, police said.
