North Haven police to boost patrols after responding to dozens of vehicle break-ins

Even though the vehicles are locked, the individuals involved are smashing windows and are looking for items of value, according to police.

NORTH HAVEN, Conn. — The North Haven Police Department is boosting patrols after responding to dozens of vehicle burglaries and break-ins in the past week.

Police said officers have responded to 46 reports within 13 streets, and are now using grant funding to increase overnight shift staffing to try to stop the break-ins.

Even though the vehicles are locked, the individuals involved are smashing windows and are looking for items of value, according to police.

The vehicle burglaries have happened in commercial parking lots and residential neighborhoods on the following streets, according to police:

  • Maple Avenue
  • George Street
  • Blakeslee Avenue
  • Washington Avenue
  • State Street
  • Skiff Street
  • Monroe Street
  • Lynette Drive
  • Pool Road 
  • Woodside Drive
  • Sackett Point Road
  • Ridgewood Avenue
  • Ansonia Drive

North Haven police have also been trying to stop several vehicle thefts in the area, saying it is a statewide problem.

Police are turning to the public for help. Anyone who has surveillance video of any of these incidents is asked to contact North Haven police at 203-239-5321.
