NORWICH, Conn. — The 40-year-old man wanted for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend with a gun on Friday night was arrested after an hours-long search, Norwich police announced.
Brandon McNeal was arrested around 9:20 a.m. Saturday morning after he was spotted walking in the area of Boswell Ave. When police approached him, he tried to hide behind a nearby residence before he was arrested without incident.
Police were initially called to a home in Norwich around 10:30 p.m. Friday after a report of a domestic violence assault. The victim told police officers McNeal allegedly used a handgun to pistol-whip her in the face and head.
She told police he ran out of the house with the gun.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Police said they unsuccessfully searched for McNeal in the area using the K9 unit.
Officials said McNeal has an unrelated active arrest warrant from September for violating probation.
McNeal faces multiple charges, including assault, criminal procession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and risk of injury to a minor. He is held a $1 million bond for the probation violation warrant and a $1 million bond for the new charges. He is expected to appear in court on Monday.
