HARTFORD, Conn. — Police are investigating a homicide in the area of Amherst Street on Monday
Police say the man was found in a driveway of a house, shot multiple times.
The man was taken to Hartford Hospital and pronounced dead. Police later identified the victim as 19-year-old Makhi Buckly.
Police say the attack was targeted and there are multiple people of interest.
The YMCA of Greater Hartford President and CEO, Harold Sparrow released a statement Tuesday, saying Buckly's murder is an unspeakable tragedy and loss for the Hartford community and the YMCA family.
"His family and loved ones have our support and deepest prayers," Sparrow continued. "Makhi’s grandfather Carl Hardrick has been part of the fabric of the Wilson-Gray YMCA for many years and has spent his life advocating against violence in our communities; Brother Carl has worked tirelessly to make our city a better and safer place. He is beloved and we are with him every step of the way."
