PUTNAM, Conn. — A Putnam man accused of manslaughter and other crimes in Connecticut has been brought back from Maine, where he was arrested earlier this month, to face those charges.
Walter Lawson, 41 was arrested for three separate crimes spanning from September 2023 to May 2024 after being extradited from Maine.
Lawson is facing a manslaughter charge for an alleged stabbing at a Putnam home on Sept. 26, 2023. Lawson got into a fight with the victim when he stabbed them in the chest, according to investigator interviews with Lawson and witnesses mentioned in the arrest warrant.
"You stabbed me," the victim is heard saying to Lawson in surveillance video investigators obtained as evidence, according to the arrest warrant.
Someone then drove the victim to Day Kimball Hospital, while Lawson got into a different car and left the house, according to the arrest warrant. Lawson told investigators he did not mean for the victim to die.
Lawson is also facing possession and sale of narcotics charges. Police searched a minor's cell phone, where investigators found texts between the minor and Lawson regarding drug transactions, according to the arrest warrant.
He is also facing conspiracy to commit assault in connection to the assault of a female at a boat launch in Thompson in May 2024.
For all three arrest warrants, Lawson was held on a $1,525,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
