US Marshals arrest Bloomfield homicide suspect in Arizona

Devante Swaby, 29, is a suspect in the deadly shooting of Bloomfield resident Timothy Ross, 31.

PEORIA, Ariz. — The U.S. Marshals in Arizona Friday arrested a man wanted in connection to a deadly shooting in Bloomfield, where a man lost his life.

On Dec. 4, Bloomfield police obtained an arrest warrant for Devante Swaby, 29, the suspect in a shooting incident in which Bloomfield resident Timothy Ross, 31, was killed.

The Bloomfield Police Department enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force to locate and apprehend Swaby. Their investigation led them to the 8100 block of N 99th Avenue in Peoria, Arizona, where Swaby had traveled following the shooting, according to the marshals. Bloomfield Police say Swaby is a resident of Peoria. 

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, members of the Arizona Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested Swaby and took him to the Peoria Police Department where he was processed and now awaits extradition to Connecticut. He is being held in lieu of a $5 million bond. Swaby will face charges including murder, criminal use of a weapon, carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of an assault weapon, and weapons in a motor vehicle.
