Bridgeport man accused of manslaughter arrested in Maine

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force located the man at a hotel in Bangor and arrested him without incident, officials said.

BANGOR, Maine — A man who had a warrant out for his arrest in Connecticut was arrested in Maine on Wednesday.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force arrested Walter Lawson, 41, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, in Bangor on a warrant issued by the state of Connecticut charging him with first-degree manslaughter, the U.S. Marshals Service said in a press release Thursday.

Through a joint, collaborative law enforcement effort, officials received information that led investigators to Bangor, the release stated. Members of the marshals service located Lawson at a hotel in Bangor and arrested him without incident, according to officials.

Lawson is charged as a fugitive from justice and will be arraigned in Maine pending his extradition back to Connecticut, the release stated.

The U.S. Marshals Service Maine Violent Offender Task Force is comprised of members of the U.S. Marshals Service, Maine Department of Corrections, Biddeford Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and Maine National Guard Counterdrug Task Force.
