WATERBURY, Conn. — A Waterbury man accused of stabbing his wife to death in April 2022 pleaded guilty to the crime.
Ainsley Panton pleaded guilty to killing 24-year-old Moesha Watson, stabbing her multiple times inside their home on Willow Street on April 26, 2022.
At the time, police said Watson was found collapsed outside the home by Waterbury firefighters who were returning to their firehouse down the street.
"They saw a female that was in distress in the roadway," Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said at the time. "They went and investigated that particular incident and realized she needed medical attention."
Panton was arrested and charged with murder and two counts of risk of injury to a child because the couple’s two children were home during the attack. Police said one of the children witnessed it.
Two other children who lived in the home were at school at the time of the incident.
"This is a very gruesome, very violent scene," Spagnolo said at the time.
On Thursday, Panton pleaded guilty to murder. He will be sentenced in January 2024.
