HARTFORD, Conn. — The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club is now accepting applications for its annual scholarships for high school seniors living or going to school in the capital city. A new scholarship, which honors Hartford Police Det. Robert "Bobby" Garten, is now part of the lineup.
There are five scholarships students can apply for, and applications will be accepted from now until June 7.
- The Hartford Yard Goats Foundation Scholar Award - For a senior who plans to attend an accredited 4-year college and holds a GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. The recipient will be automatically admitted into HYG Foundation Scholars Programs.
- HBCU Scholarship Awards - Awarded to a senior planning to attend an accredited 4-year historically Black college or university.
- Johnny & Friends Scholar Award - Awarded to a Bulkeley High School senior planning to attend an accredited 4-year college. Must include one Letter of Recommendation.
- Educational Aid Award - Awarded to a senior committed to post-secondary education, such as trade school or 2-year community college
- The Detective Robert "Bobby" Garten Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to a Greater Hartford Area senior who plans to pursue an education in law enforcement.
Each scholarship will award $2,000 to the recipient.
