Connecticut Children's Medical Center unveils new space for teens battling cancer

It's aimed at allowing them to connect with others who are going through the same thing

HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Children’s Medical Center has unveiled two new spaces for teens and young adults battling cancer or blood disorders.

The new lounges include a media area, a play zone, and space to read.

Cancer patients at the center say areas like these are needed to keep their spirits up and help them get through the recovery process.

“My mouth just dropped…it was amazing because it used to be so small and now there is a lot of room for a lot of teens for different things. I really like the art cart and it is fully stocked and I am always doing art projects,” says 13-year-old Hannah Forstell, who is 13 years old and has been getting treatment for cancer at Connecticut Children’s since last August.

The upgrades were made possible with the help from Teen Cancer America, a national non-profit, and donations from Lyman Orchards.
