Hospitalizations remain the same, positivity rate drops under .4%
The Governor's office released the latest COVID-19 statistics on Friday showing another low positivity rate and hospitalizations remaining the same.
Connecticut reported it administered 8,387 tests and 31 came back positive. The positivity rate was about 0.37%, the lowest it has been in months.
Hospitalizations remain did not change since Thursday. There are still 71 patients being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital.
There was one COVID-19 related death on Friday. The state death toll has now reached 8,261 people.
June 10
Hospitalizations decrease, positivity rate stays under .5%
Connecticut reported on Thursday that it administered 13,090 tests and 57 came back positive. The positivity rate on that day was 0.44%.
After a slight uptick in hospitalizations Wednesday, the state saw a decrease of five COVID-19 patients. There are now 71 patients being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital.
There were three more COVID-19 deaths reported on Thursday. The state death toll has now reached 8,260 people.
The Governor's office also released the first vaccine report in a week or so, showing that there are now 1,915,292 people in Connecticut who are fully vaccinated.
Interestingly, 61% of residents ages 16 and 17 have been vaccinated. This is the highest out of any age group under 34.
June 9
Hospitalizations increase slightly, positivity rate stays under 1%
Gov. Ned Lamont's office released the latest COVID-19 statistics as of Wednesday showing a positivity rate that remained under 1% and an increase in hospitalizations.
Connecticut administered 13,356 tests and 108 came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of about 0.81%.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 patients increased by four people. There are now 76 patients being treated for the virus in the hospital.
There were two more COVID-19 related deaths reported on Wednesday. The state death toll has now reached 8,257 people.
June 8
Positivity rate remains under 1%
Connecticut reported on Tuesday it administered 9,356 tests and 66 came back positive. The positivity rate was about 0.71%.
Hospitalizations did not increase or decrease on Tuesday. There are still 72 patients being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital.
There were two COVID-19 related deaths reported. The state death toll has now reached 8,255 people.
June 7
Lamont releases latest COVID numbers
Governor Lamont reported that since Friday, Connecticut has administered 35,968 tests and 197 came back positive, yielding a positivity rate of about 0.55%.
Hospitalizations saw a decrease of 10. There are now 72 patients being treated for COVID-19 in the hospital.
There were seven COVID-19 related deaths reported since the beginning of the weekend. The state death toll has now reached 8,253 people.
Another COVID side effect: Many kids head to summer school
As the second school year disrupted by the pandemic winds down, summer school plans are taking shape around the country. An influx of federal funding included in COVID-19 rescue legislation is letting districts broaden programming and offer spots to more students than ever before.
The Biden administration is requiring states to pour at least $1.2 billion into summer enrichment programs. Districts also must reserve at least 20% of the windfall to address learning loss, which could include summer school, with a focus on students who have been most affected by the shift away from in-person learning.
