CONNECTICUT, USA — Over the next several days, the COVID-19 vaccine will be offered in more than 100 additional pharmacies across the state.
Gov. Ned Lamont made the announcement Wednesday while adding Connecticut is on track to expand its vaccine age eligibility on April 1.
On the aforementioned date, adults between the ages of 16 and 44 will be able to schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
“Connecticut’s healthcare providers have been doing a tremendous job getting the vaccine to our residents, and the reason why our state is among the most vaccinated in the country is because of the remarkable work they have been doing,” Lamont said in a statement. “As we prepare to expand vaccine eligibility to the final group of adults on Thursday morning, there is going to be an initial rush of people who attempt to make appointments during the first couple of days, similar to what we experienced when we expanded to other age groups."
He continued: "I urge everyone to please be patient and check back as new appointments are being added every day. Thanks to the efforts of the Biden administration, the number of doses being delivered to Connecticut is significantly increasing each week, and I am confident that within this next month we will get the vaccine to everyone who wants it.”
According to the governor's office, Connecticut ranks second in the country in the percentage of the population that has received at least one dose. However, CDC data shows the state currently ranks fourth in the number of new cases per 100,000 people over the past seven day.
