MILFORD, Conn. — The new state-of-the-art post-surgical orthopedic care unit has been unveiled at Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford Campus, according to a release from Yale New Haven Health earlier this week.
The opening of “3 East” serves as a milestone in the commitment made by Yale New Haven Health and Bridgeport Hospital to Milford Hospital when they acquired it about five years ago, the release said.
“We made a commitment to continue providing care to the community, to invest in its infrastructure, to offer new services and to expand access to specialty care in the region,” Bridgeport Hospital President Anne Diamond said in the release.
In 3 East, the rooms are fitted with the most modern technology, the release said. The rooms are also designed with patient and family comfort in mind, as each room includes a tablet that enables patients to control lighting, temperature, the window blinds and their entertainment options.
Patients can also communicate with their care team easily and can be monitored remotely, giving them the ability in the future to consult with their providers virtually, according to the release.
“Every aspect of this unit was meticulously thought out to truly enhance the patient experience,” Diamond said, in the release.
The release said that employees have received ample training to serve patients in the new rooms, and Yale New Haven Health will hire more orthopedic surgeons with different specialties to expand services in the community.
