HARTFORD, Conn — Two bridge closures will cause headaches for drivers over the next week in different parts of the state while CT Department of Transportation does construction.
From Friday, November 3 to Monday November 6, I-95 Southbound will be closed at Exit 17. Traffic will be rerouted to the northbound side bridge and lane restrictions will reduce traffic flow. CT DOT said to expect heavier traffic volume during Friday night and midday Sunday. Drivers should plan ahead to take alternate routes. Work is being done to the bridge over Saugatuck Avenue. The site is near the Westport train station.
In East Haddam, work being done on the Swing Bridge that carries Route 82 over the Connecticut River will cause it to be closed from Sunday 8 p.m. until Wednesday 11 a.m.
Pedestrians and cyclist are advised that during this 63-hour closure, the bridge will be closed to them as well. The work being done is part of a longer term construction of the bridge.
