On Sunday at around 4:09 p.m., Westport police were informed of a boating accident and two "possible" missing people. A boater traveling near Cockenoe Island found a man standing on a buoy. Another man and a woman were also rescued from the water, according to police.

All three people were taken to Norwalk Marina and then to the hospital for evaluation.

Police said a translator was requested and once officers were able to speak with the people involved, they learned that there were five people on a small boat that sank and everyone went into the water.
