ANSONIA, Conn. — The Ansonia Public Works facility is back open Wednesday morning after it was closed Tuesday because something resembling a grenade was found outside.
At around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, a Public Works employee saw an object he said looked like a grenade in the grass along the road to the facility. The Connecticut State Police and local Fire Marshal Lundeen investigated the situation.
In a Facebook post, the Ansonia Police Department said after the state police’s investigation they disposed of the object. State police said it was homemade, and there was “unknown material” inside.
