WOLCOTT, Conn. — A man who fatally backed his vehicle into a woman earlier this year is now facing charges, and another man accused of delaying getting help for the woman is also slated to face charges.

A Wolcott police investigation revealed in the overnight hours of Feb. 10, James Sadlowski, 31, had backed his truck into Alexandria Standish, 37, who was standing behind it, at a home on Central Avenue in Wolcott. Standish's boyfriend, Brandon Hamel, then comes out to the driveway to see her unconscious, police said.

The two did not call 911, and it took them a while to try to help Standish, according to police. Eventually, Standish was put into Hamel's vehicle, and he drove her to Bristol Hospital. Sadlowski then left the Central Ave. home and returned to a motel in Meriden.

The police said that this incident and the actions following it were caught on the home's Ring camera.

At the hospital, surveillance footage showed Hamel "was in no rush to get Standish care," according to police. Hamel was seen being uncooperative with hospital staff and blocking them from getting to Standish while she was still in the vehicle, according to police. She later died from her injuries.

Bristol police called Wolcott police around 3 a.m. that morning to go to the hospital and investigate Standish's death. After Hamel told police the injuries happened at their house, he became uncooperative with police, officials said.

Sadlowski was arrested on Wednesday without incident at a Meriden motel and was charged with manslaughter, intentional cruelty to persons and evading responsibility, and also faces numerous vehicle violations. His bond was set to $500,000.

Police intend to arrest Hamel after he is discharged from the hospital for injuries from an unrelated crash. Charges against Hamel include interfering with a police investigation and intentional cruelty to persons, with bond set at $100,000.
