HADDAM, Conn. — A 5-year-old who was pulled from the Connecticut River last weekend has died.
The Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) identified the child Friday as Jaxon Podbielski of Higganum.
He and a man went in the water after a kayak reportedly capsized while on the Connecticut River in Haddam on Saturday, Oct. 26, state police reported last week.
Podbielski was taken to Connecticut Children's in Hartford and passed away Wednesday, DEEP said. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has not yet determined the official cause of death.
The man who also went in the water refused medical attention, state police said Saturday.
