HARTFORD, Conn. — Ash Wednesday is Feb. 14, a Christian holy day that starts the period of Lent. Several churches around Connecticut are offering ashes. These events allow visitors to stay in their cars while receiving ashes.

Berlin:

Kensington Congregational Church on 312 Percival Ave., drive-thru.

7-8 a.m., noon-1 p.m., 5-6 p.m.

Hamden:

Christ the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 600 Shepard Ave., drive-thru.

7:30-9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Windsor:

Grace Episcopal Church on 311 Broad St. from noon to 1 p.m., walk up or drive-thru.
