WALLINGFORD, Conn — Connecticut Foodshare surpassed its goal ahead of Thanksgiving thanks to the generosity of Connecticut residents during the ‘Thanksgiving For All’ campaign.
The Connecticut Foodshare president and CEO, Jason Jakubowski, expressed his gratitude to the “people of Connecticut” following their generosity during this year’s campaign.
The campaign kicked off its annual event on Nov. 14, with Bank of America Turkey Tuesday, and continued over the past two weeks with several food drives in communities across the state in-person and online.
“We have a lot of people that needed our support this Thanksgiving, and our partner programs are the backbone of our operation,” Jakubowski said. “We simply couldn’t have met our goal without them.” Because of the community support, Connecticut Foodshare will be distributing 52,861 meals to over 650 partner programs this afternoon as families begin their Thanksgiving preparations.
Walk of Faith Church Community Outreach Food Pantry is not only one of the programs that Connecticut Foodshare partners with, but they benefit from it too.
“With the help of Connecticut Foodshare we were able to provide a Thanksgiving meal to an estimated 150 families this holiday season,” said Fay Williams the Outreach Administrator at Walk of Faith Church Community Outreach Food Pantry.
For those looking to help bring a warm meal to the table this Thanksgiving, there's still time. To help Connecticut Foodshare and its partner programs across the state, year-round donations are accepted here.
