Memorial Day Parades across Connecticut

Memorial Day is May 27 and cities and towns across the state will be holding parades and ceremonies to honor those lost in service.

CONNECTICUT, USA — Memorial Day Weekend is coming up, and towns and cities across the state are hosting parades and ceremonies to honor those lost while serving the country.

Here's a list of events in your area:

Andover

The Andover Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, beginning at 8:45 a.m., and will step off from the Andover Elementary School parking lot before heading down Route 316 to Monument Lane. 

After the parade, there will be a ceremony at Cider Mill Road.

Avon

Avon's 79th Anniversary Memorial Day Parade will begin on Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. 

The parade will step off at the Board of Education Annex at 34 Simsbury Road. It will then head south on Routes 10/202 to the intersection of Route 10/202 and Route 44, then take a right onto West Main Street (Route 44). It will end at the corner of Route 44 and Ensign Drive at the Town Green. From there, a ceremony will be held at the Veterans' Memorial.

Berlin

Berlin's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, at  9 a.m. at St. Paul's Church on Peck Street in the Kensington section of town. The Connecticut Air National Guard is expected to fly over during the parade. 

The route will head down Farmington Avenue before turning left onto Massirio Drive, passing the Berlin Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10732. Then, another left onto Veterans Way, and it will end at the Berlin Veterans Memorial Park, where a ceremony will take place between 9:45 a.m. and 10:05 a.m. 

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10732, on Massirio Drive at 9 a.m.

Bloomfield

The Bloomfield Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27. A memorial ceremony will start the day at Mountain View Cemetery at 10 a.m. 

Assembly for the parade will begin at 11 a.m. and the parade will step off at 11:30 a.m. before ending at noon on the Town Green. At the Green, there will be a Memorial Day ceremony.

Bozrah

The Bozrah Memorial Day Parade will happen on Saturday, May 25 at 11 a.m., with memorial services held at the Town Hall memorial site. 

Following the services, the parade line-up will happen on Schwartz Road at noon, with the parade stepping off at 1 p.m. From there, the parade route will head to the Bozrah Moose Lodge, where trophies and refreshments will be served.

Branford

The Branford Memorial Day Parade will happen on Monday, May 27, in the Northford section of town. Participants will assemble at St. Monica's Church on Middletown Avenue at 9 a.m., with the step-off happening at 10 a.m. sharp. The route will follow Route 17/Middletown Avenue to the monument at the Northford Village Green. 

From there, all are invited to the Company 2 Fire House immediately following the parade for refreshments.

Bristol

The Bristol Memorial Day Parade will take place in the Forestville section of town on Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. with a rain date of Monday, May 27, at 2 p.m. 

The parade will begin on Forestville Center Street.

Brookfield 

Brookfield's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Sunday, May 26 at 2 p.m. 

There will be a shuttle bus from Center School beginning at 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Following the parade, there will be a ceremony at Williams Park beginning at 1:30 p.m.

Brooklyn

Brooklyn's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds. 

Beginning at 9 a.m., there will be an opening ceremony before the parade steps off. It will proceed on Route 169 and turn around near Town Hall. 

On the way back, there will be a ceremony at the Monuments, and the parade will continue at the South Cemetery for a closing Memorial Day service.

Burlington

Burlington's 2024 Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 

The parade will happen at 781 George Washington Turnpike, with a ceremony on the Town Green after.

Caanan

The Falls Village Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27. The parade will start at 9:45 a.m. from Lee H. Kellogg School and end at the Town Green on Main Street. 

There will be a commemoration ceremony to follow at the Green.

Canton

The Canton Memorial Day Parade is set for Monday, May 27, and will step off at 10 a.m. from the Canton Intermediate School. 

The parade will head south on Dyer Avenue, take a right onto Maple Avenue, take a left onto Main Street, a right onto Center Street, and proceed to the Village Cemetery, where a memorial service will be held following the parade.

Cheshire

The 2024 Cheshire Memorial Day Parade will honor the year of the 80th anniversary of D-Day and will be held on Sunday, May 26, beginning at 1:30 p.m. with no rain date. In the event of inclement weather, the parade may be canceled. 

There will be a shuttle bus service from Cheshire High School to the beginning of the parade root from 11: 30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

The parade will not stop at the Veteran's Memorial Plaza this year due to the disruption to the parade. There will be a separate wreath-laying ceremony on Saturday, May 25, at 11 a.m. on the Cheshire Congregational Green. There will also be a Flags Across Cheshire event where flags will be placed on veterans' grave markers at 1 p.m.

Chester

The Chester Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. It will begin in the parking lot across from St. Joseph's and then march to the war memorial, downtown to the flagpole, and then up to the Meeting House. 

There will then be a ceremony to honor and remember fallen service members. A C130 flyover between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. is also possible.

Clinton

Clinton's Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies will take place on Monday, May 27. The ceremonies at the three cemeteries will begin at 8:55 a.m. at Beaverbrook Cemetery. The parade kick-off is at 11 a.m. from Post Office Square.

Colchester

The Colchester Memorial Day Parade will take place on Sunday, May 26, at 12:30 p.m. Several military units, including the Connecticut Army National Guard, the 1109th TASM-G, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Marine Reserve, and the U.S. Air Force Reserve, are expected to participate. 

There also may be a flyover event as well. 

The parade committee will also award prizes in three categories: Best Volunteer Marching Unit, Most Patriotic Float, and Most Creative Float.

Cornwall

Cornwall will have Memorial Day events from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, May 27. 

Bring flowers to decorate graves at the North Cornwall Cemetery service at 9 a.m. Then, there will be the Seaman's Memorial service at the Covered Bridge at 10 a.m., and then a Memorial Day Parade at the village green at 11 a.m., with a ceremony to follow. 

Then, the UCC Carnival will take place on Bolton Hill Road.

Coventry

Coventry's Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27. 

The parade will assemble at 9 a.m. at the Veterans Green, located at the intersection of Lake Street and High Street, and will step off at 10 a.m. 

After the end of services, the parade will reform and march along Lake Street and Main Street to Bradbury Lane, where it will disband.

Darien

The Darien Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27. The parade's assembly will begin at 9 a.m. at the Goodwives Shopping Center and then march toward the Spring Grove Veterans Cemetery to lay commemorative wreaths on the Karl Lang flagpole during a ceremony honoring fallen service members.

Deep River

There will be two parades in Deep River: one on Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m. in Winthrop and another in downtown Deep River on Monday, May 27, at 9 a.m. 

A flyover is also planned for Monday morning at 10 a.m.

Derby-Shelton

The Derby-Shelton Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 27 at 9 a.m., rain or shine, at the intersection of Wharf Street and Howe Avenue in Shelton, then finishing in Derby. 

There is an expected flyover at 9:30 a.m. during the parade, with a ceremonial wreath ceremony on the Derby Shelton Bridge when the honor division and veterans division reach it.

Durham 

The 2024 Durham Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27. The parade will step off at 9:15 a.m. at the corner of Haddam Quater Road and Main Street and then continue down Main Street to the Durham Town Green. 

Parade participants are asked to assemble at the corner between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The parade will take place rain or shine.

Immediately following the parade, there will be a ceremony at the Town Green.

East Granby

East Granby's Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. on Nicholson Road near the cemetery. The parade assembly will begin at 9:45 a.m.

East Hartford 

The town, in collaboration with the East Hartford Veterans Commission, will host the town's third annual Memorial Day parade and other events on Monday, May 27, beginning at 10 a.m. 

The event will include a parade, a program at the Fallen Star Memorial, and a celebration of East Hartford veterans. 

The parade begins at 9 Riverside Avenue and goes to the Fallen Star Memorial at Goodwin University.

East Haddam

East Haddam's Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27. 

There will be one ceremony before the parade steps off. At 8:30 a.m., near the east Haddam/Haddam Swing Bridge off the Goodspeed Operate House, there will be a waterside tribute. 

The parade assembly will begin at 9:15 a.m. at the Municipal Office Complex in Moodus. The parade will proceed on Town Street to the Moodus Green & Nichols Memorial for more memorial ceremonies. The parade will end at the American Legion Post 156, where a memorial program will be held. 

Light refreshments will be available at the American Legion afterward.

East Lyme

The East Lyme Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27, at 2 p.m. 

The parade will begin near St. John's Green, across from the Children's Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, and march down Niantic's Main Street, ending at the East Lyme Town Hall.

East Windsor

The East Windsor Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27. The parade will begin at 10 a.m., with marchers assembling at 9:15 a.m. 

The parade will start at the Town Hall Annex at 25 School Street, head up Main Street to Bridge Street, Gardner Street, Pleasant Street, and then North Main Street and Joseph Tracy Veterans Memorial Green, where services and awards will be held. 

Participants can conclude the day at the American Legion, Barry0Poulter Post No. 40, located on Gardner Street, with complimentary refreshments.

Eastford 

Eastford will have a few Memorial Day events. 

Memorial services and military salutes will happen at 8:30 a.m. at General Lyon Cemetery and 9 a.m. at Grove Cemetery. 

At 9:30 a.m., the parade will begin at Eastford Elementary School. 

Following the parade, a Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Ivy Glenn and Veterans Memorial. The ceremony will include an invocation, recognition of an Eastford Veteran, laying of a memorial reached by the scouts, a military salute, and musical presentations. 

In the event of rain, the ceremony will be moved to the Eastford Elementary School and will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Easton

Easton's 2024 Memorial Day Parade will happen on Monday, May 27. Participants are asked to arrive at the Easton Fire Department at 9 a.m. 

The parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. sharp. 

After the parade, there will be a ceremony at Easton Town Hall, which will include a salute to veterans, a flag raising, and a rifle salute. Short remembrances will then be held at the Easton cemeteries.

Ellington

The Ellington Memorial Day Parades will be held on Monday, May 27. It will begin at 9 a.m. from the Crystal Lake area (where Green Street intersects with Route 140) and end at the Crystal Lake Cemetery, where there will be a brief service.

The second parade will be held at 11:30 a.m., following a service at 10:30 a.m. at Ellington High School. That parade will go from the high school and proceed to the Ellington Green and then to the Ellington Cemetery for a brief memorial tribute at each location.

Enfield

The Enfield Memorial Day Parade will occur Sunday, May 26, and steps off at 1 p.m. 

The parade will begin at Enfield Street School and continue north on Enfield Street to the Enfield Town Green. At the Green, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony with a gun salute.

Fairfield

The Fairfield Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m at the corner of Post Road and South Pine Creek Road. 

The parade will march east from South Pine Creek Road along Post Road to the library. From there, it'll turn south along Old Post Road to Flint's Corner and then east, passing the Town Green and continuing beyond South Benson Road.

Farmington

The Farmington Memorial Day Parade will be held in the Unionville section of town at 10 a.m. 

The parade will form at the corner of New Britain Avenue and South Main Street at 9:30 a.m. The route will begin on New Britain Avenue and turn right onto South Main Street, traveling northbound. The parade will then veer left onto Main Street, then onto Maple Avenue, and then down Maple Avenue Extension. 

The parade will conclude at the Alice Clover Pinney Memorial Park.

Glastonbury

The Glastonbury Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will occur on Monday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Main Street and Welles Street. 

The parade will march south down Main Street and past the reviewing stand on Hubbard Street to end at the monuments at the Green. 

After the parade, the Veterans Service Commission will hold a ceremony to honor the veterans from Glastonbury who died in service. Following the ceremony, the Glastonbury Elks will hold an open house for anyone who wants to attend. 

In the event of rain, the commission will hold an assembly in the Glastonbury High School gymnasium.

Goshen

Goshen's Memorial Day Parade will occur on Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. 

The parade will begin at Goshen Center Scholl and make its way to Center Cemetery for a ceremony by the American Legion. The parade will then resume and return to Goshen Center School.

Granby

The Granby Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will take place on Monday, May 27. Assembly will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the parking lot on Bank Street and then step off at 10 a.m. 

Stops will be made to lay wreaths at the War on Terror, Legion, and World War I monuments before continuing to the cemetery. 

There will also be a 21-gun salute and taps before the parade will return to the Town Green and disband.

Greenwich

Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department's Memorial Day Parade in Greenwich will take place on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 

The parade will step off on Sound Beach Avenue, and a memorial ceremony will be held after the parade in Binney Park.

The Town of Guilford will hold its Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

The parade will begin at Alderbrook Cemetery on Boston Street and conclude at the Town Green.

Hamden

The Town of Hamden will hold its 86th Annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27, beginning at 10 a.m. at Hamden High School. The parade will continue north along Dixwell Avenue to Hamden Middle School, where a remembrance ceremony will follow.

Harwinton

The Harwinton American Legion Post 137 Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27.

The parade will step off at 2 p.m. from the Harwinton Fairgrounds (Locust Road) and proceed down Bull Road and South Road to the Town Green at the intersection of South Road and Route 4. There, a ceremony will be held. 

A low-level flyover is also expected.

Kent

The Town of Kent will hold its Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. 

The parade will be downtown on Route 7, Route 341, and Elizabeth Street. A flyover is also scheduled. 

Ice cream will be provided by the Kent Lions Club at the Kent Community House at the end of the parade, and there will be a picnic at the Kent Land Trust Field after the parade from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with music and activities for all ages.

Killingworth

Killingworth has activities and commemorative events for Memorial Day on Sunday, May 26, and Monday, May 27. 

On Sunday, at the Evergreen Cemetery, a memorial ceremony will be at 11:30 a.m. 

On Monday, at 8 a.m., the flag will be raised and lowered to half-staff at Killingworth Town Hall. At the same time, parade participants will line up at the staging area at Killingworth Elementary School. 

The Memorial Day Parade will begin at 9 a.m. and march to the Congregational Church. There will be another commemorative ceremony when parade participants reach the church.

Lebanon

The Lebanon Memorial Day Parade will take place on Saturday, May 25, at 10 a.m., and they will commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The parade will take place at the Lebanon Town Green.

Madison

The Madison Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 

The parade will begin at the intersection of Samson Rock Drive and Boston Post Road, proceed west on Boston Post Road through the downtown area, and conclude with a flyover and remembrance ceremony at the Town Green.

Manchester

The annual Manchester Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. 

The route will begin at the Army and Navy Club at 1090 Main Street. it will then turn east on East Center Street and then west at Nate Agostinelli Veterans Memorial Park and will conclude at the Center Memorial Park for a Memorial Day program to honor fallen service members. 

In the event of inclement weather, the Center Memorial Park Program will be held inside the Salvation Army located at 661 Main Street at 11 a.m.

Mansfield

The Mansfield Memorial Day Parade at the Mansfield Center has been cancelled due to "inclement weather." 

The Memorial Day Ceremony will instead take place at 9 a.m. inside the Mansfield Middle School gymnasium on 205 Spring Hill Road.

Meriden 

Meriden's Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. with parade participant assembly beginning on Curtist Street at 8:45 a.m. 

The parade will begin on Curtis Street, going past Veterans Memorial Boulevard onto Broad Street, then down east Main Street to Pratt Street. There, it will turn right and end at Meriden Green, where a ceremony will take place.

Middlebury 

The Town of Middlebury will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on Sunday, May 26, with a 5 p.m. stop at the corner of Whittemore Road and Bronson Drive. 

The parade will end at Town Hall with a Memorial Day ceremony.

Middletown

The Middletown Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

There is also an expected flyover by the Connecticut Air National Guard. 

The parade will begin at the north end of Main Street and will conclude at the South Green.

Milford

Milford will have two events on Sunday, May 26 for Memorial Day. 

At 9:45 a.m., there will be a veterans wreath-laying ceremony at the World War I Doughboy monument at Milford City Hall on River Street. 

Then, there will be a parade that steps off from Parsons at 2 p.m. on West Main Street.

Monroe

The Monroe Memorial Day Parade will be held on Sunday, May 26, at 1 p.m. This year's theme is "Honoring Our Heroes." 

The line of march will begin at Lower Elm Street and Route 111 and proceed to the war memorial on the Town Hall Green, where the memorial ceremony will be conducted.

Montville

Before the parade, there will be a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony at Montville Town Hall at 310 Route 32 at noon. 

After that, the Memorial Day parade will begin at 1 p.m. at the intersection of Route 32 and Raymond Hill Road before heading to the Comstock Cemetery, where a ceremony will honor local veterans.

Morris 

Memorial Day kicks off Morris' 2024 Summer Concert Series. Country Steel, a modern country band, will be playing at the Morris Town Green at the intersection of Route 63 and 109. 

The concert begins immediately following the town's Memorial Day ceremonies in Memorial Park, which follows the parade, which kicks off at 12:15 p.m.

The Naugatuck Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies will take place on Monday, May 27, at 9:15 a.m. 

The parade steps off from North Main Street and ends at the Town Green, where there will be a ceremony at the gazebo on the Town Green.

New Britain

New Britain's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Thursday,  May 30, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is the only city-sponsored parade held in the city. The parade will feature veterans organizations, the Sphinx Temple Motor Patrol, cyclists, the Temple Guard, school marching bands, clowns, a stilt walker, local first responders, and more. 

The parade route is 2.2 miles from Broad Street and Burritt Street to Main Street and ends near Franklin Square.

New Fairfield

New Fairfield will hold a Memorial Day ceremony on Monday, May 27, at 11 am. 

The ceremony will be held at Veterans Memorial Park as they pay tribute to the men and women who died serving the country.

New Haven

New Haven's Memorial Day events will begin on Sunday, May 26. At 1 p.m., there will be a ceremony at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park on Long Whard Drive. 

At 3 p.m., there will be a second ceremony at the World War Memorial flagpole on the New Haven Green. Maj. Jamie Cuticello, Deputy Commander, Connecticut Training Center (CTC) of the Connecticut Army National Guard, will be the principal speaker. New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker will also offer remarks.

New Milford

New Milford will have two parades, both on Monday, May 27. The first one in the Gaylordsville section of town will begin at 8 a.m., and the second one in downtown New Milford will begin at 10 a.m. in front of the New Milford Public Library.

Norfolk

The Annual Norfolk Memorial Day Parade will occur on Monday, May 27. It will start at 9 a.m. at Norfolk Town Hall. 

From there, the parade route will go from the Town Hall to the Village Green, around the green, and then continue down Route 44 to Memorial Green. 

At Memorial Green, there will be a names ceremony, during which the names of Norfolk residents who have proudly served our country in the armed forces and passed on will be read. 

Following the parade and ceremony, the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department will host an open house with free donuts.

North Haven

The 78th Annual North Haven Memorial Day Parade will occur on Saturday, May 25 at 10:30 a.m. 

The route begins at North Haven High School, heads east on Bailey Road, then north on Maple Avenue on Church Street, and ends at the corner of Church Street and St. John Stree. 

The grandstand will be located at the Town Green across from Town Hall.

Norwalk

The Norwalk Memorial Day Parade will happen on Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. 

The parade begins at Veterans Park and will end at the Town Green on East Avenue. This year's parade theme is Honor Our Veterans - Support Our Troops.

Norwich

Norwich's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, beginning at noon and step off in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral and will continue down Broadway to Chelsea Parade by the monument area. 

From there, there will be a Memorial Day Commemorative Ceremony that will begin around 1 p.m., during which new wreaths will be placed at the war monuments. These events will be held rain or shine.

Old Lyme

Old Lyme's Memorial Day Parade will happen on Monday, May 27. 

The parade will depart at 11 a.m. and proceed down Lyme Street to the Duck River Cemetery flag pole. There, there will be remarks and a remembrance ceremony before the parade heads back down Lyme Street.

Old Saybrook

Old Saybrook's Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27 and will also hold two ceremonies to honor veterans. 

The event will begin with the dockside naval ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Saybrook Point Vailion parking lot. A wreath will be laid on the Connecticut River, and the ceremony will take place rain or shine.

There will then be a parade that steps off at 10 a.m. from Elm Street. The parade will go straight across Route 1 to Main Street and then proceed to the Veterans Memorial Monument the Town Green, where a memorial program will also be held.

The Connecticut Air National Guard is expected to fly over the parade between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Orange's Memorial Day Parade and ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 26. 

The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Gazebo at High Plains Community Center. The parade is expected to begin as soon as the ceremony is over.

Plainfield 

Plainfield's American Legion Godreau-McMahon Post 91 will hold several ceremonies on Sunday, May 26. 

The day begins with mustering at Post 91 at 8:15 a.m., and then several stops over the course of two hours will be made, including All Hallows Church, Moosup Veterans Park, Sacred Heart Cemetery, American Legion Ambulance, Evergreen Cemetery, and Moosup Fire Station.

Pomfret

Pomfret's Memorial Day Parade will occur on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 

The route begins at the PomfretFirst Congregational Church and proceeds to the Town Green. At the Green, a short ceremony will take place.

The Portland Memorial Day Parade will take place on Sunday, May 26. 

The parade will step off at 2 p.m. from the corner of Victoria Road and Main Street.

Prospect

Prospect's Memorial Day Parade will be on Monday, May 27. The parade will be assembled at 12:30 p.m. by the Community Center. 

The parade will depart at 1 p.m., and a flyover is scheduled for during the parade. 

After the parade, a veteran ceremony will be held at the cemetery. Following that, there will be another ceremony on the Town Green. 

In the event of rain, a ceremony will be held at St. Anthony's Church.

Putnam

Putnam's Memorial Day program will include ceremonies and a parade, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at Rotary Park. The parade will take a 1.5-mile route through downtown Putnam. 

At the park, there will be a program ceremony that includes a wreath-laying ceremony, key-know addresses, and special presentations by the Putnam High School Concert Band.

Redding's Memorial Day Parade will take place on Saturday, May 25 at 12 p.m. 

The parade will begin at Redding Elementary School and head to Old Town House.

Ridgefield's Memorial Day Parade has been cancelled "due to inclement weather" after being scheduled to take place on Monday, May 27, according to a post on Facebook.

Rocky Hill

Rocky Hill's Memorial Day Parade will occur on Monday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m. and step off from Rocky Hill High School on Chapin Avenue. 

The parade will end at Center Green with a Service of Remembrance around 10:30 a.m.

Roxbury's Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27. The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Church Street. 

From there, the parade will proceed to the Seth Warner Monument on the Town Green and then down North Street to the Veterans Memorial in Center Cemetery.

Simsbury's Memorial Day Parades will be held on Monday, May 27. One begins at 9 a.m. in Tarrifville and another one at 1 p.m. on Hopmeadow Street in downtown Simsbury.

South Windsor

South Windsor's Memorial Day Parade will occur on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 

The parade will follow Nutmeg Road South to Pleasant Valley Road and end at Veterans Memorial Park. 

Following the parade, a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. will honor and remember service members. 

Over 1,400 flags will be placed on Veteran graves in South Windsor town cemeteries as well.

Southbury

The Annual Southbury Memorial Day and Picnic will be held on Monday, May 27, with a kick-off time of 11 a.m. 

The parade will begin at the Pomperaug Office Park parking lot across from CVS. It will head down Depot Hill Road, continuing down Main Street South, and end at Veterans Memorial Green between Town Hall and the Senior Center. 

Following the parade, head to Ballatine Park for the Family Day picnic! The picnic begins at 12:30 p.m. and will run until 3 p.m. There will be many activities, including inflatables, face painting, a color run, a foam cannon, music, and food.

Southington's American Legion Kiltonic Post 72 will hold its Memorial Day services on Monday, May 27. 

Post 72 will hold several services at cemeteries across the town from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. 

The Annual Memorial Day Parade will begin on Eden Avenue with a step-off at 10:30 a.m.

Sprague

Sprague's Memorial Day Parade will occur on Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. 

The parade will begin at Route 97 in Baltic, north of the Shetucker River, and will go through the village of Baltic, heading south onto Main Street, left onto River Street, and back onto Main Street before ending at the War Memorial Park.

Stafford

Memorial Day in Stafford will begin with ceremonies at five local cemeteries at 7 a.m. and end with a Memorial Day Parade at 11 a.m. 

The cemetery ceremonies will occur at Stafford Springs Cemetery, St. Edward CEmetery, West Stafford Cemetery, Hillside Cemetery, and Staffordville Cemetery. 

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Furnace Avenue, head west on Main Street, pause at the Wall of Honor for a brief ceremony, and end at the American Legion Post 26 with a memorial service.

Suffield's Memorial Day ceremony and parade will occur on Monday, May 27. 

The parade will assemble at 8:45 a.m. on Ffyler Place and step off at 9 a.m. The parade will march up Mountain Road to Main Street to the Veteran's Memorial. 

A Memorial Day Program will occur at the Veteran's Memorial following the parade.

Thompson 

Thompson's Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 27. 

The parade will begin at 9 a.m. at the Thompson Town Hall in the North Grovenordale section of town. The parade will proceed to the Mani Street Bridge, where a salute will be given to those buried at sea. The march will proceed to St. Joseph's Cemetery and the North Grosvenordale Cemetery. The parade will also stop at Oscar Swanson Park (Thompson War Memorial) and the Swedish Cemetery (Emanual Lutheran Church Cemetery), ending at Town Hall.

Tolland

Tolland's 31st Annual Memorial Day Parade and services will occur on Sunday, May 26 at 1 p.m. 

The parade begins next to the Preschool of the Arts on Tolland Stage Road, across the Town Green, turns onto Old Post Road, and ends at the Tolland Intermediate School on Old Post Road. 

A Memorial Day ceremony will follow the parade on the lawn of the Tolland Recreation Department.

The 2024 Torrington Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. The theme of this year's parade is Operation Inherent Resolve.

Trumbull will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 27 at 10 a.m. 

The parade will feature veterans, antique cars, marching bands, color guards, schools, scouts, and sports teams.

The Union Memorial Day ceremonies will occur on Monday, May 27. There will be ceremonies at East Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. at the Town Green. 

Join the parade to North Cemetery and Center Cemetery. 

There will be refreshments served on the Green following the ceremonies.

Vernon

Vernon's Memorial Day parade and ceremony will happen on Monday, May 27. 

The town and American Legion will host the townwide Memorial Day Parade and Observice. The parade will start at 10 a.m. from Northeast School and then pause briefly at Grove Hill Cemetery for an observance at Luff Field. 

The parade will continue from Hale Street to Grove Street to East Main Street and into Downtown Rockville. 

There will be a following ceremony in Central Park before Town Hall. 

There is also an expected flyover at 11 a.m.

Watertown 

The Watertown 2024 Memorial Day Parade will happen on Monday, May 27, at 10 a.m. 

The parade will begin at the Watertown Plaza located at 1167 Main Street and proceed on Route 63 North to the Watertown Green. There will be a Memorial Day ceremony following the parade at the Green.

West Hartford

The 2024 Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27 beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will assemble at 9:30 a.m. in designated areas west of Woodrow Street on Farmington Avenue. The parade will end at Town Hall and last for about one hour. 

There will be free parking all day at all municipal parking sites on Memorial Day. 

Road closures will begin at midnight Monday to include:

  • Pleasant Street, west side, from Whitman Avenue to Farmington Avenue. 
  • Farmington Avenue, on both sides, from Walden Street to Raymond Road. 
  • North Main Street and South Main Street, both sides, from Brace Road to Burr Street. 

Following the parade at 11:15 a.m., there will be a ceremony held at the Veterans Memorial on the corner of North Main Street and Farmington Avenue.

Westport

The Town of Westport will hold its parade on Monday, May 27 beginning at 9 a.m. on Riverside Avenue and follow the same route as previous years. Following the parade, ceremonies will take place on Veterans Green across from Town Hall and the reviewing stand will be in front of Town Hall. 

In the event of rain, services will be held at 10 a.m. at the Town Hall auditorium.

On Saturday, May 25, the town will host its annual Memorial Day Parade, beginning at 9 a.m. and lasting around one hour. The parade will be followed by a Memorial Day Ceremony at Village Cemetery.
