HARTFORD, Conn. — Support for the family of fallen Connecticut State Trooper First Class Aaron Pelletier has poured out since his death along I-84 in Southington on Thursday.
On Friday afternoon, state police announced a fundraiser to support Pelletier’s family. The GoFundMe page can be accessed here.
State police said that out of an abundance of caution for those who attempt to capitalize in a time of tragedy, the GoFundMe page is the only state police-authorized fundraiser source for the Pelletier family currently. According to state police, the page was created by Pelletier’s colleagues at Troop H in Hartford and has been approved by the Pelletier family.
All proceeds will go directly to Pelletier’s family. Pelletier leaves behind his wife Doninique and two young sons, Zachary and Troy, according to state police.
The GoFundMe page notes that the “grief and sadness caused by Aaron’s sudden death cannot be properly expressed in words.”
The page goes on to say that Pelletier was “a friend and brother who will be remembered for his easy smile, quick jokes and willingness to train and teach new troopers. More importantly, Aaron’s dedication and love for his wife and two boys knew no bounds.”
Pelletier was 34 years old when he was struck and killed by a pickup truck while conducting a routine traffic stop on Thursday. Alex Oyola-Sanchez, a Hartford man from Puerto Rico, is charged with manslaughter following the hit-and-run.
