HARTFORD, Conn. — Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont is ordering U.S. and state flags to fly at half-staff later this week to honor an employee of the state Dept. of Transportation who was hit and killed by a car last week while working on a roadway.
From sunrise on Friday to sunset on Saturday, flags will be lowered to half-staff. This is in coordination with the wake and funeral services for the DOT worker, 26-year-old Andrew DiDomenico.
“We honor the memory of Andrew DiDomenico and his service to the State of Connecticut and the Connecticut Department of Transportation,” Lamont said. “This is a heartbreaking tragedy and one that never should have happened. My prayers and condolences are with Andrew’s family, friends, and CTDOT co-workers during this devastating time.”
DiDomenico was working Friday, June 28, on the Wharton Brook Connector near Interstate 91 in Wallingford when he was hit and killed by a car. The East Haven woman accused in the fatal crash faced a judge on Monday.
