NEW LONDON, Conn — A woman, who last month was charged in connection with having sex with a minor, has been rearrested after police said she had contact with another minor over Snapchat, in violation of her release agreement.
Alyson Cranick, 42, of Columbia, was charged last month with two counts of sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a child.
According to the town's 2017-2018 annual report, Cranick worked for the school system in Columbia, having been listed as a paraprofessional.
Police said in a warrant that Cranick had chatted with a different minor over Snapchat, in violation of the terms of her release. The terms state Cranick was barred from using electronic communication devices.
Police said in a warrant last month that they started investigating in September after a report of a sexual assault in the first degree of a juvenile. Investigators believe the suspect had sexual intercourse with the victim multiple times during July and August 2022 in the town of Columbia.
