BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Southern Owls, in the house! A "High School Musical" alum will deliver the commencement address for Southern Connecticut State University's undergraduate graduation ceremony.
Actor and singer Corbin Bleu will address the 1,200 graduating seniors and thousands of family and friends "All in this Together" at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport on Friday, May 17, as the seniors prepare for the "Start of Something New" after receiving their degrees.
Bleu is well-known for playing Chad Danforth in Disney's "High School Musical" movies, alongside Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, which came out 18 years ago. He and Keke Palmer starred in Disney's "Jump In!" about a year later.
Bleu recently starred as Seymour in the off-Broadway production of "Little Shop of Horrors" with Constance Wu. He will be back on the stage opposite Jinkx Monsoon in June.
Bleu also led the cast of "Summer Stock" for its world premiere at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam last summer.
Ted Yang will deliver the commencement address for the graduate commencement that afternoon. He is an entrepreneur and member of the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education, the governing body of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities system.
