BEACON FALLS, Conn. — An unbelievable car accident on Route 8 North near exit 24 in Beacon Falls Monday afternoon left the highway shut down for hours.
At about 1 o’clock, Beacon Falls emergency officials received a report of a car accident on Cold Spring Road, but they quickly learned the crumpled car, laying upside down, next to Metro-North Railroad tracks, had come careening off Route 8 and down an embankment, before tumbling to rest.
"The male was out of the vehicle when we got there," said Chief Brian DeGeorge of the Beacon Falls Fire Department. "So, we just control the scene for EMS and EMS transported with a priority to Waterbury Hospital."
The Connecticut State Police released a report later Monday night saying the crash was deadly and identified 24-year-old Derby resident Jonathan Vazquez as the victim.
Police say Vazquez was ejected from the car and taken to the local hospital where he later died.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Trooper First Class Corona at Troop I, in Bethany at 203-393-4200.
