State Supreme Court deals big blow to group seeking Bridgeport ballot fraud accountability

Justices dismissed Fight Voter Fraud Inc.’s case on standing without examining the merits of the argument.

CONNECTICUT, USA — The State Supreme Court issued a ruling in a case that sought to get alleged Bridgeport ballot harvesters Wanda Geter and Eneida Martinez arrested.

It has been five months since the justices heard arguments and nearly a year since the group Fighter Voter Fraud Inc. leveraged an old law in an attempt to hold the alleged ballot stuffers accountable. The ruling is a big setback.

“They never ruled on the merits of the case,” Linda Szynkowicz, the founder and CEO, said.

In a 17-page decision, all seven Connecticut Supreme Court justices unanimously agreed that Fight Voter Fraud’s effort to arrest alleged ballot stuffers Wanda Geter and Bridgeport City Councilor Eneida Martinez should be dismissed on standing.

“The Connecticut Supreme Court took a different view of the law than we did,” Atty. Cameron Atkinson, representing Fight Voter Fraud, said.

The justices said Fight Voter Fraud and the three Bridgeport voters named in the complaint are not aggrieved or injured “because they do not have a specific, personal and legal interest in the arrest.”

“We're kind of scratching our heads with the state of Connecticut Supreme Court saying that they are not. How could they not be?” Szynkowicz said.

As reported in November of 2023, Fight Voter Fraud leveraged the old state law from 1868. It was used only once. The goal was to hold the alleged Bridgeport ballot harvesters accountable for fraud caught on camera in the mayor’s race.

“Saying that we don’t have the right to be somewhere that the legislature said we have the right to be is the definition of a legal injury,” Atkinson explained.

The justices noted that "other states previously had statutes of the same kind: however, those statutes have been declared unconstitutional.”

“They utilized Massachusetts law and did not look at the history of Connecticut laws, which is extremely odd,” Szynkowicz said.

Fight Voter Fraud is now filing a motion to reconsider, which is almost always denied. With no other legal avenues remaining, the group is now in an ironic position to accomplish its goal. They will have to rely on the one state office allegedly behind the inaction that forced them to undertake this fight in the first place.

“Our main purpose of this was because the Chief State's Attorney's Office is not doing their job in actually going after Wanda the ballot stuffer and Eneida for the stuff they did in 2023,” Szynkowicz said.

Atkinson added, “It looks like we're dealing with serial violators of election law and unless the Chief State's Attorney's Office is pushed they are not going to do anything and that is frankly unacceptable.

In June, Chief State’s Attorney Patrick Griffin filed election fraud charges against Geter and three other suspects related to fraud that allegedly occurred in 2019. No one has currently faced any charges related to the 2023 elections.
